One FFL Coming Right Up!
It's finally happening! The FFL (federal firearms license) we've been waiting on for FOREVER is finally about to go through! The official guys come over on Thursday for the in shop interview and if (when) we pass, we will only be a couple of weeks away from getting all things necessary to officially launch our business! I am so excited about this. Only a few more weeks and all the products and stories we've had hidden up our sleeves for all this time will officially be on the market. Yay!

Our Newest Short Story
I am really excited to introduce our newest short story. Actually, our newest short story ins't just a short story at all! Rather, it is an entire series of short stories! I wont' spoil the ending (or the beginning, seeing as I haven't actually sat down to start writing this story yet) but let me tell you, if you like to read short stories online then this newest short story is going to be a truly unique online short story reading experience. This latest short story will be created to match the newest product line, our custom digital scrapbook. My Very First Project - Completed!
That's right! I have officially completed my very first etched glass project.
Etched glass is something I have always wanted to do. I grew up watching my mom work on etched glass projects at least monthly until well into my teenage years. Then she got too sick to do it anymore, but my love of etched glass still rang true. I actually have a lot of family members that do etched glass projects. One aunt in particular takes it upon herself to etch a special mirror for each newly married cousin. I have mine framed in my living room and it is definitely one of my most precious possessions.
When Ben told me the idea he had the Liberty's Standard, and how he wanted to get a whole bunch of custom made items, I knew I wanted to officially try my hand at etched glass. Lucky for me, my mom had kept all her etched glass stuff with the hopes that she would be able to use them again someday. Instant inheritance! Then she proceeded to walk me through the basic steps of glass etching and I knew it was only a matter of practice before I held the skills she once held.
I have been contemplating my first project for several weeks now. But with the move and the starting of the business and all that other official stuff, I haven't had much time to spend on it. Until this last weekend. I was able to put together my project from start to finish in just a few days. Not bad for a first timer! Now all I need to do is finish writing the story and the whole project will be ready for the official website.
I won't spoil the story until I finish writing it and get everything posted...but I will give you a sneak peak on the finished glass etching :-)

It's kind of hard to see. I think I need to work on my photographing skills....But it is a glass picture frame with a little bit of a bow at the top and bottom so it can stand on its own without a stand in the back. Both sides and the bottom feature baby footprints walking around the frame. The top right corner and the bottom left corner features a double heart, and the bottom right corner sports a silhouette of a baby. At the top in a pretty font it spells "Footprints on My Heart"
I am pretty proud of this picture frame. Pretty good if I do say so myself. Especially considering it was my first ever try at glass etching! Hopefully I only improve from here!

Do you love reading short stories online? I myself am a lover of short stories and I love getting my hands on a good short story. Unfortunately, ever since I finished school, I have not had easy access to short stories. At least, not the short story I can literally hold in my hands. Thank goodness for the internet!
With the internet, now short story lovers all over the world can feast their eyes upon literally MILLIONS of fictional short stories, available for readers to enjoy online. Reading short stories online. I wonder of the creator of the internet foresaw this use of his marvelous creation when he first set out?

Setting Up Shop
We have begun our search for writers and custom item creators!
Part of our goal for Liberty's Standard is to gather together a network of people from all walks of life. We want to attract more than just "gun people" to our website. Traditional gun shops and gun websites are nice, but let's face it, they seem to attract a certain type of people. And this certain type of people tends to stick to themselves and not really get along with anybody else. (for the most part) When Ben finished his gunsmith training and was looking to set up his new gun shop, he realized this and decided he wanted to step outside of the norm and create a gun shop that would attract more than just your traditional gun lovers. And the idea for Liberty's Standard was born!
The idea behind Liberty's Standard is to attract not only your traditional gun lovers (because gun lovers are cool!) but to also attract people from other areas. The goal of Liberty's Standard is to sell more than just guns. Liberty's Standard, even though it was created by a gunsmith, is actually more of a shop that specializes in all kinds of custom and semi-custom items. In order for this to happen, Ben has been spending the past few weeks searching for people who have hobbies that are worth some money. Even though the search has only been going on for a little while, we already have a plethora of product ideas, as well as the people in place to start making these products!
Another idea we had to help make Liberty's Standard stand out from among the crowd was to attach a short, fictional story to each item that enters the Liberty's Standard store shelves. This not only attracts a whole new area of people, the story readers and story lovers, but it also creates an emotion for each and every item we sell. Now, instead of just offering our customers really cool customized items, now we offer our customers really cool customized items that have a story, and therefore a unique emotion, attached. How cool is that?
